Sustainable Palo Santo Wood
£6.99

Palo Santo, Bursera graveolens, is a naturally scented wood that has been used for its medicinal properties for centuries.

Palo santo is a more subtle and natural alternative to incense, often thought to be less overwhelming. The natural scent is grounding and calming, reducing stress and anxiety, grounding the nervous system and creating atmosphere for meditation.

The scent is frequently described as warm, sweet and woody, with possible subtle notes of ginger, vanilla, citrus, and mint.

6 x Sustainable Palo Santo Sticks

Use:

Place a stick in our ceramic wood burner with a small candle or one of our eco tealights.

For best results, burn for an hour at a time and flip the stick around after each use.

Once the ends are blackened and no longer diffusing scent, the stick can be replaced.

Sustainability

We source our palo santo from reliable source, ensuring it is grown, maintained and harvested sustainably. Our palo santo is only harvested from naturally fallen or dead trees.

Advice

Variations in shape, size, thickness and colour are completely normal, due to palo santo being a naturally-occurring product.

Burning palo santo is seen as safe around animals, the flame being more dangerous than the scent. Additionally, our customer feedback has suggested that the scent has had a calming effect on their pets.

Palo Santo has been used since the Incan era throughout south America as an incense burned at ceremonies and rituals as well as a household fragrance and insect repellant!

When you buy our Palo Santo, a portion of every sale goes to it’s sustainable harvesting, protection of the dry-tropical forests in Manabi, Ecuador, and the reforestation program that supports and educates many families in the local communities that live off the trade of this magnificent tree.

This species of wood is not to be confused with Bulnesia sarmientoi that shares the common name of Palo Santo but is used for it’s resin in soaps and paint, and is conservation dependant.

A Guide to Palo Santo

For centuries palo santo has been used as an incense much like the sage smudge stick. Typically people burn Palo Santo to cleanse the energy in their home or place of work, set an intention ie relaxation or simply to enjoy its unique aroma.

The wood is lit at one end until it holds a flame, wait a couple seconds for a light burn or a moment more for a more intense effect and then blow out the flame. Its aroma is then diffused through the smoke. We advise you to keep a hold of the stick while its smoking and set it down in a bowl or plate once your’re finished, it gets messy!

Why not try diffusing this wood with our St Palo Wood Burner for a more potent and longer lasting aroma, without the smoke and ash.
